More families entitled to a Social Allowance.
Low-income families that are not currently entitled to the Social Allowance may be eligible for this allowance from 2023.
The income thresholds for Social Allowance entitlement will increase to €36.325,76 per year instead of 32.882,77. This is to ensure that more families fall within the eligibility bracket.
These new threshold amounts will apply in January 2023 (first payment on 8 February 2023).
If you're entitled to the Social Allowance, you will receive it automatically. So no application is necessary.
From April 2023, a new income bracket will apply for families with incomes between €34,526.91 and €40,281.40 per year. These families will receive a Social Allowance of €35 per child per month.
Eligible families will receive this Social Allowance from April 2023 (payment at the beginning of May 2023)
You will receive the Social Allowance automatically. KidsLife will notify you if you are entitled to it.
Increased Social Allowance
Not only are more families entitled to the Social Allowance; the amount per child has also been increased.
Every child who is entitled to a Social Allowance will receive an additional €15 per month from December 2022 (payment on 8 January 2023).

Additional premium for children who are entitled to a Social Allowance
Is your child entitled to a Social Allowance? Then you will receive an additional one-off premium of €100 in 2022 and 2023.
- In December 2022, children who were entitled to a Social Allowance in November 2022 will receive a bonus of €100 .
- At the end of April 2023, children who were entitled to a Social Allowance in April 2023 will also receive a bonus of €100 .
If you’re entitled to this bonus, KidsLife will pay it automatically.
If you were entitled to a Social Allowance in November 2022 and April 2023, you will receive the bonus twice.
Indexation of the Growth Package
In September 2022, the Growth Package was indexed by 1%. (payment on 6 October 2022). In December 2022, the Growth Package has been indexed by an additional 1% (payment on 8 January 2023).
From September 2023 (with first payment early October), the Growth Package will automatically be indexed again by 2%.
You do not have to submit an application for this increase. KidsLife will automatically pay the amount you are entitled to.
Increase to the Half-Orphan’s Allowance
From January 2023, families in which one parent has died (after 2019) will receive €138.56 on top of the basic amount instead of €86,60. You’ll receive this increase from KidsLife automatically. So no application is necessary.
